Thank you for your interest in JOBS NOW!2, the Human Services Agency's new wage subsidy program.  The goals of the program are to provide work opportunities to low-income San Franciscans while stimulating the local economy.  The program began on October 1, 2010 and will run through June 30, 2011, or until funding is no longer available.

JOBS NOW!2 is a wage subsidy program that offers employers a $5,000 wage subsidy for all new hires of qualified participants.  For many positions, $5,000 pays for 2 to 3 months of wage costs for your new hires!

How does JOBS NOW!2 work?

JOBS NOW!2 works in many of the same ways that JOBS NOW! worked.  Once employers are enrolled, Human Services Agency staff will refer qualified applicants to them.  Hiring decisions are made by employers.  After the new employees start work, employers submit invoices to the Human Services Agency for the wage costs.  The first $5,000 in wage costs incurred for each JOBS NOW!2 participant you hire will be reimbursed by the Human Services Agency.  Employers are expected to retain JOBS NOW!2 employees after the subsidy period has ended.

How do I find eligible participants?

The Human Services Agency will assist you in finding appropriate candidates for your job opening.  You will be assigned to a Business Account Representative, who will send you referrals and may invite you to a hiring fair.

I thought the JOBS NOW!2 subsidy was $2,500.  Did the program change?

Yes.  As of March, 2011, the new reimbursement amount is $5,000, allowing employers a longer subsidy for new hires.

Do I have to fill out a new employer agreement to be eligible for the $5,000?

If you have filled out a JN!2 employer agreement since October 2010, no new agreement is necessary.

Can I get the full $5,000 reimbursement retroactively for JN2 clients I already hired?

Yes, you may if the employee is still working with you.  Speak to your Business Account Representative about how to receive the additional reimbursement.
