The Commission’s meeting room, Ronald H. Born Auditorium, on the first floor at 170 Otis Street has accessible seating for persons with disabilities (including those using wheelchairs). The closest accessible BART Station is at 16th and Mission Streets. Accessible MUNI Lines are the 14-Mission, 49-Mission/VanNess, 26-Valencia and 9-San Bruno. All the MUNI Metro Lines are accessible. Requesting authorization to submit to the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors a supplemental appropriation request in the amount of $1,539,670 to increase funding for CalWORKs aid payments as a result of mandated cost of living increases and a projected increase in caseload during the period of July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005.

C. Requesting authorization to submit to the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors a supplemental appropriation request in the amount of $1,880,106 to transfer savings from budgeted aid payments to the Human Services Care Fund; during the period of January 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005.

D. Requesting authorization to submit to the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors an Annual Salary Ordinance (ASO) amendment and a supplemental appropriation request in the amount of $2,184,895 based on an increased Federal administrative allocation for the Medi-Cal Program provided to the County during the period of January 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005. The increased Medi-Cal funding will provide for twenty-one (21) new positions and information technology and telecommunications projects to enhance customer services.

E. Requesting authorization to submit to the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors an Annual Salary Ordinance (ASO) amendment to add eight (8) new positions for the Family and Children’s Services Non-Related Extended Family Member (NREFM) Relative Assessment Unit during the period of January 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005. These positions are needed to meet State mandated reporting requirements. This ASO amendment does not require a supplemental appropriation of funds.

F. Requesting authorization to submit to the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors an Annual Salary Ordinance (ASO) amendment and a supplemental appropriation request in the amount of $2,918,578 to provide for unanticipated services of the In Home Support Services (IHSS) Consortium, unanticipated health and dental benefits costs for IHSS Independent Providers, increased staffing to meet State mandates for the IHSS Program, increased staff to monitor payroll records for IHSS Independent Providers and improved financial supervision in the Court Accounting Unit. This ASO amendment would add ten (10) positions for the IHSS Program and one position for the Court Accounting Unit.

K. Requesting authorization to proceed with the Department of Human Services’ plans for the first floor of 150 Otis Street: To change the facility’s use from office space and storage to a temporary shelter for use during winter months or times of extreme weather conditions. The Department also proposes making the site available to people displaced by fire or other disasters as needed. This project will be in effect from October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2011.
