HSA contracts with many community-based nonprofit agencies to offer vocational and employer-based training programs to eligible San Francisco residents. Construction, technology, health care, hospitality and culinary trades are only a few examples of the extensive training offered. Through the Individual Referral contract model, Welfare to Work participants can secure an individualized contract with qualified training providers that meet their specific vocational objectives. Beyond gaining the skills needed in the industry, qualified participants may receive additional assistance, including purchase of required tools and uniforms, payment of union dues, job placement services and other benefits.
