Family Preservation
If a child is not in immediate danger but the family is at some risk and requires supportive services, the family may be referred to the Family Preservation Unit to work voluntarily with Family and Children’s Services. Family Preservation staff work to stabilize families through services such as respite care, childcare, parenting classes or counseling. If the parents follow the Case Plan and the home remains safe, the case is closed. If the parents do not follow the plan, the Court may order further child welfare involvement to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children. HSA child welfare workers make every effort to keep children safely with their families, and to provide resources to the family that will help strengthen and stabilize the home.
