Child Care for Families on Aid (415) 276-2900
When your children are safe and happy in a good child care program, you will be able to concentrate on the work you must do to prepare for, enter and keep a job. Your child care expenses will be paid while you are on aid and up to two years after you leave aid. The Children's Council of San Francisco can help CalWORKs and PAES families find a quality child care provider near your home or your work. Their number is (415) 276-2900.
Child care is provided by licensed family child care providers in their own homes, or at a licensed child care center near you. You may also use a license-exempt provider (a family member or a friend). If you have a child with special needs, Children's Council will work with you to find a provider with special training. Child care is also available for children who may be too sick to go to school or to regular child care. Emergency back-up care is also available if you need it. A provider can even come to your own home to care for your children under the supervision of a registered nurse. Transportation to and from child care for you and your children 12 and under is paid as a Support Service. Let your Employment Specialist know about your child care needs.
