Medi-Cal Health Connections
(415) 863-9892

Medi-Cal Health Connections provides free and low-cost health care coverage to many San Franciscans. Most people who qualify for free coverage are enrolled in a local health plan (Blue Cross or the San Francisco Health Plan). The Medi-Cal Health Connections staff helps those who can’t get free coverage get access to low-cost health benefits from share-of-cost Medi-Cal, the Community Health Network, or the Healthy Families Program, a health insurance plan for children, pregnant women, and parents.

Medi-Cal health coverage pays for medical visits, hospital care, prescription drugs, pregnancy-related treatment, dental and eye care, and other medical services. Children and youth (under 21), aged and disabled people, people in skilled nursing facilities, pregnant women, and many parents may qualify for free or low-cost coverage.

Free Medi-Cal health coverage is part of the CalWORKs benefits package, and this coverage usually continues for at least one year after a family or individual goes off cash aid. Medi-Cal is one of the few public services available to undocumented immigrants.

The Medi-Cal Health Connections office at 1440 Harrison Street is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Assistance is available in many languages in person and over the phone.

Medi-Cal Health Connections workers accept applications at the Medi-Cal office and at local hospitals, clinics, the One Stop Center at 3120 Mission Street, and many community agencies. Applications can be requested and completed by mail or phone using the number above.
