Children removed from an abusive or neglectful environment, or abandoned or runaway children, are taken for a few hours to the Child Protection Center, where they are nurtured and helped to feel safe. In this caring environment the children are comforted, fed, clothed and medically cleared while staff locate an appropriate temporary home.
