Workforce Development (Employment and Training)
HSA plays a key role in developing and managing employment, training and workforce development services for San Francisco residents. Originally designed to help people exit the welfare system and become self-sufficient, most of these employment services are now accessible to everyone, with new programs developed specifically to help those San Franciscans working in low-paying jobs develop careers with a future and a growing income.
HSA contracts with many community organizations so that employment services are accessible and fulfill specific local needs. We partner with local and national agencies, educational institutions and corporations to create greater economic opportunities for San Francisco’s workers. Toward that end, HSA plays an integral role in the Workforce Investment Board (WIB), which is charged with stimulating prosperity by helping San Francisco citizens become the skilled workforce needed by local industry.
