Disability + Aging Services LGBTQ Programs
LGBTQ Care Navigation Program: This partnership between DAS and nonprofit community provider, Shanti, coordinates care and volunteers to provide emotional and peer support through regular visits with clients. The program also provides pet care resources so that clients can maintain their animal companions, which is important in helping to prevent isolation.
LGBT Dementia Care Project: Led by the Alzheimer’s Association with the Family Caregiver Alliance and Openhouse, this program raises awareness and facilitates service providers to assist clients with dementia and connect them to hospitals and community organizations that serve the LGBTQ population.
LGBTQ Financial Literacy Program: The Smart Money Coaching services are tailored to each client’s needs and work toward countable outcomes, such as establishing a safe and affordable banking account, decreasing debt by at least 10 percent, and establishing or improving credit score.
Housing Subsidy Program: Administered by the Q Foundation, this program helps stabilize housing in the face of rent hikes or loss of income by providing a housing subsidy payment and access to other supportive services.
Affordable Housing: The City partnered with Openhouse and Mercy Housing to develop LGBTQ-friendly housing developments. Both sites are next to the Bob Ross LGBT Senior Center, which provides social and recreational activities, communal dining, case management, and other supportive services.

LGBTQ+ Aging & Abilities Support Network (LAASN): The Shanti Project's LAASN provides a wide range of services including care navigation, peer support groups and volunteers, social and wellness programs, and client advocacy.
