Federal Unemployment Benefits Have Ended

If you need support, we’re here to help.

Federal pandemic unemployment benefits that provided an additional $300 weekly payment ended on September 4, 2021. If your federal unemployment benefits are ended, you may be eligible for several benefit programs based on your income level.

We urge you to apply for the following programs:

  • CalFresh: Starting in October 2021, an individual could receive up to $250 per month in food assistance. Apply at GetCalFresh.org.
  • Medi-Cal: Provides free or low-cost health coverage.  If you don’t qualify for Medi-Cal, SFHSA will help determine your eligibility for other affordable health care options, including Covered California. This option may be just $1 per month for those who received unemployment. Apply now.
  • Rental and utility assistance: Visit HousingIsKey.com or contact the Rent Relief call center at (833) 687-0967.
  • CalWORKs: Provides families with children with cash and access to free Medi-Cal insurance, CalFresh food assistance, free diapers, and other benefits. Apply now
  • JobsNOW!: Provides access to hundreds of employers and job opportunities. Visit us at JobsNOW!
  • County Adult Assistance Programs (CAAP): Provides cash assistance and employment services to low-income adults with no dependent children and to qualifying immigrants. Apply now.
