During this period, IHSS has modified our services in order to support your care and provider needs without interruption. 

Top news

Care Recipient updates

  • Applications: We continue to process all applications and new intakes. Learn more.
  • Loss of care: If your Care Provider can no longer work for you and you cannot find replacement care, call your social worker for assistance.
  • Information and assistance: Call your social worker.
  • Redetermination: All annual IHSS redeterminations are suspended until June 30, 2020. Check back for more details.
  • Additional hours: If you have a change in condition and require additional hours, call your social worker to determine your needs.
  • Homebridge: Remains fully staffed with minimal changes to services.
    • Contract Mode: Still available but prioritized for Care Recipients with critical care needs.
    • Recruitment: Caregivers are needed now more than ever. Open positions include full and part-time positions starting at $18.50/hour, with great benefits, paid training, and on-the-job support. Learn more.

Care Providers updates

  • Information and assistance: Call (415) 557-6200 and leave a message and one of our IPAC staff members will return your call. Or, email your question to
  • IP Supply distribution is suspended: Please check back here for updates.
  • Enrollment: Continues online and by phone and mail. Learn more.
  • Service changes: If you can no longer provide service to your Care Recipient, please let them know, and help them to arrange for other care if possible and contact their social worker.
  • Public Authority: IHSS services for Care Providers
    • Information and assistance: Call (415) 243-4477 or
    • Location: The office at 832 Folsom Street is temporarily closed.  
    • Suspended services: Includes trainings, workshops, and Livescan fingerprinting services.​​​​​​
    • Emergency On-Call: Still available but prioritized for Care Recipients with critical care needs.
    • Health and dental benefits
      • Enrollment for health and benefits continues.
      • During this time active providers will not lose health and dental benefits due to a decrease in hours. Contact the Public Authority for more information. 
    • Registry: Recipients in need of home care providers can still contact Public Authority for a list of available providers. 
    • Recruitment: Caregivers are needed now more than ever. The Public Authority is still accepting online applications for registry providers and Emergency On-Call workers. Learn More
