Family and Children’s Services (FCS) Become a Foster Parent

San Francisco’s foster youth need families from all neighborhoods and backgrounds.

If you have room in your heart and home, become a foster parent – we need you!

All children need and deserve a safe, nurturing, and consistent place to live where they can thrive and mature. However, due to limited availability of resource homes in San Francisco, over half of the foster youth in HSA’s care are placed outside of the county, This means they are also removed from their school, family connections, and community. We want to keep foster youth in our city by increasing the number of foster families in San Francisco.

Becoming a foster family is deeply rewarding and comes with financial reimbursement, as well as medical, mental health, and educational support. And contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be married, own a home, or employed in a traditional 9-5 job to qualify. We welcome all qualified applicants including women and men, LGBTQ+, couples, singles, people from all ethnicities and backgrounds, and older adults.
