Health Care Access for All San Franciscans Open Enrollment is Here. Time to Get Covered!

HSA can help you explore options and apply for low or no-cost health care coverage.

San Franciscans can now renew or sign up for affordable health insurance for 2019 at Covered California.  At Covered California, you can shop online, in person or by phone and compare different health insurance plans, as well as learn whether you qualify for financial help, such as federal tax credits to reduce your monthly premium costs.

Enrollment and renewal deadlines: To avoid any gaps in coverage or a tax penalty, you must enroll between October 15 and December 15, 2018 for a January 1 effective date. If you enroll between December 15, 2018 and January 15, 2019, your effective date is February 1. The renewal period for Covered California health insurance started on October 1, 2018.

If you do not qualify for Covered California, there are more options:

  • Medi-Cal, California’s free health insurance available to those with low incomes, takes applications at any time and has no open enrollment period. HSA assists clients year-round in applying for and maintaining Medi-Cal benefits.
  • Healthy San Francisco, the city’s universal health access program, is still open and available for those who do not qualify for Covered California or Medi-Cal.

HSA can help you explore options and apply for low or no-cost health care coverage.
