Check your eligibility

  • San Francisco residency
  • Net income of under $588 per month
  • Personal property limit of $2,000 per single adult or $3,000 per couple
  • Vehicle ownership limited to one vehicle
  • Student status limited to an associate degree program (two-year college) or vocational school
  • Must not have quit your job within the 45 days prior to application
  • Must be receiving CalFresh and Medi-Cal. If not, your application for both will be automatically included with your online CAAP application.

During your Initial Intake interview, your worker will let you know which verification documents to bring to your Final Intake interview.

Apply online for faster application processing — and just one office visit

Apply in person — requires four office visits

  • Attend the first office visit at 1235 Mission Street to request services, complete the two-page application, and schedule an Initial Intake appointment.
  • If possible, view the orientation video before your next office visit (English Español | 中文 | русскийFilipino | Tiếng Việt). Then, sign the online video forms in the CAAP Intake Electronic Signature Package. Your intake worker will review your completed forms in your interview. 
  • Attend the second office visit for an Initial Intake interview. If eligible, you'll be scheduled for your last two in-person appointments. 
  • Attend the third office visit for a Triage interview to determine employability. 
  • Attend the fourth office visit for Final Intake to review your required documentation.
  • If eligible. you can receive your benefits as soon as the next day.
