Distinguishing Features:​​ 

Employees follow set procedures to clean buildings and nearby areas using basic tools and supplies. The job involves regular physical activity- mostly light work, but sometimes heavier tasks like moving furniture, with possible exposure to accident and injury hazards and disagreeable elements.​​ 

Under supervision, the custodian performs routine manual cleaning tasks in public buildings, schools, other facilities, and surrounding areas; and performs related duties as required.​​ 

This is an On-Site Training Opportunity​​ 

Job Duties you will be learning:​​ 

·        Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors; vacuum carpets and rugs.​​ 

·        Dust and polish furniture and surface; empty trash and ashtrays​​ 

·        Clean restrooms, hallways, stairways, offices, and lobbies​​ 

·        Wash walls, windows, ceilings, blinds, and light fixtures​​ 

·        Clean up spills and minor plumbing issues (like unclogging sinks)​​ 

·        Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed​​ 

·        Lock doors, turn off lights, and secure buildings​​ 

·        Order and restock cleaning supplies​​ 

·        Use cleaning machines like buffers, scrubbers, waxers, and pressure washers​​ 

·        Clean recreational areas like gyms, locker rooms, and clubhouses​​ 

·        Pick up trash in outdoor play areas; hang decorations; report damage or vandalism​​ 

·        Wash windows and glass that can be reached from the ground​​ 

Minimum Qualifications:​​  

·        Understand how to safely use cleaning tools, equipment, chemicals, and disinfectants​​ 

·        A minimum of 3 months of experience working in janitorial/custodian role​​ 

·        Able to read, write, and follow instructions in English​​ 

·        Know how to properly use and care for janitorial supplies and equipment​​ 

·        Willing to enroll in Custodian Certificate Program​​ 

·        Ability to lift 20-30 lbs., and perform physical tasks daily​​ 

·        Reliable, punctual, and able to follow clear instructions​​ 

·        Excellent communication and customer skills​​
