How to Submit a Recertification for CalFresh​​ 

With BenefitsCal, you can send in your CalFresh recertification online or on your phone. This helps you keep your food benefits without having to come to one of our offices.​​

Step-by-Step Instructions to Submit a CalFresh Recertification​​

    Log in to BenefitsCal​​ 

     

    Go to BenefitsCal.com and log in to BenefitsCal using your email and password. You may be asked to enter a verification code sent to your email before you can continue.​​

    Click “Start your recertification”​​ 

     

    Look for the “Things to Do” section on your dashboard. If your recertification is due soon, you will see an option to “Start your recertification.” Click the link to start your CalFresh recertification.​​

    Review and click “Begin” to start​​ 

     

    You’ll see a page that lists your recertification deadline and an overview of the recertification process.​​ 

    1. You can also review the types of documents you might need to upload.​​ 
    2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Begin” to start.​​

    Answer the questions to complete your recertification​​ 

     

    Next, you’ll see the Recertification Summary page. It shows each section of the recertification and the status.​​ 

    1. You can navigate to specific sections by clicking them.​​ 
    2. Review and answer the questions in each step to complete your recertification. Click “Next” when you’re done.​​

    Upload documents, if needed​​ 

     

    In the “Document Upload” section, you’ll find a list of suggested documents to upload. Upload documents, if needed.​​ 

    1. Your case worker will let you know which documents you need to upload.​​ 
    2. Find the document type. Click “Upload,” choose your file or take a photo, and then submit.​​ 
    3. You are not required to submit documents for CalFresh recertification, but it may help process your application faster.​​

    Review & Submit Signature​​ 

     

    At the end, you’ll see a Review & Submit page.​​ 

    1. Check that everything looks correct. Go back and fix anything that’s wrong.​​ 
    2. Read the "Rights and Responsibilities."​​ 
    3. Sign electronically by typing your name, the date, and checking the box.​​ 
    4. Click “Submit Signature.”​​ 

     

  7. Submit your recertification​​ 

     

    On the next page, click “Submit” to submit your recertification. You should see a confirmation receipt screen. You can also text, email, or print a copy for your records.​​
