Company Bio:   

Located within one of San Francisco’s most visited landmarks, this café brings together select Black-owned restaurateurs to share flavors, time-honored traditions, and generational recipes rooted in African and African-American cuisine.

 

We are seeking an Assistant Team Lead to support the daily flow of café operations by helping the team stay organized, on pace, and aligned throughout each shift. This role works closely with the Shift Lead and team members to ensure quality service, clear communication, and a positive, respectful work environment.

 

This position is ideal for someone who leads by example, supports teammates in real time, and helps create a smooth, welcoming experience for both customers and coworkers.

 

Major Duties:

·        Support opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks as needed

·        Help coordinate the flow of work during shifts to keep service running smoothly

·        Serve as a go-to point of support for team members with questions or day-to-day needs

·        Help uphold food preparation, service, and cleanliness standards

·        Provide friendly, professional customer service and assist with issue resolution when

·        needed

·        Communicate clearly with the team and management about coverage, workflow, and

·        priorities

·        Assist with POS use, cash handling, and basic end-of-shift tasks

·        Model reliability, calm problem-solving, and strong teamwork

 

Training & Professional Development

While this is an employment opportunity, the selected candidate will receive on-the-job training and mentorship in the following areas:

  • Orientation, daily rhythm, and operational foundations
  • Food preparation and kitchen equipment basics
  • Barista training and customer experience
  • Inventory, stocking, and operational awareness
  • Shift flow support and team coordination
  • Assistant Team Lead readiness and integration

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Clear and respectful communication skills with English fluency

• Experience working in a café, restaurant, or food service setting preferred

• Willingness to obtain a food handler certificate (study time and testing will be completed during paid work hours, and the employer will cover the cost of the certificate)

• Ability to stay organized and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

• Comfortable offering guidance and support to peers when needed

• Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting


Job Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm
