1,975 Californians – including former foster youth and pregnant women – will receive anywhere from $600-$1,200 per month.

The Department of Early Childhood (DEC) is the product of a merger between the Office of Early Care and Education (OECE) and First 5 San Francisco.

The funding provides 290 of affordable housing for residents including families, formerly homeless individuals, older people, and adults with disabilities.

"Community members need to know that health, food, and housing programs are safe to use and cannot be considered in the public charge test."

The program expands the City’s Diaper Bank program eligibility from CalWORKs and CalFresh households to those who receive Medi-Cal.

The $60 million a year increase will advance pay raises, increase benefits, and improve working conditions for over 2,000 early educators.
