HSA coordinates with the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and partner agencies to safeguard residents in a citywide emergency.

In the event of a large-scale disaster, HSA is responsible for setting up citywide emergency shelters, distributing supplies for those sheltering at home, and providing recovery services. HSA also helps eligible residents apply for temporary benefits to assist them through disaster recovery.
