Emergency Short-Term Home Care for Older Adults
Emergency Short-Term Home Care is a small program that provides temporary non-medical in-home assistance to older adults aged 60 and older.
This service supports persons having difficulty with everyday activities and is primarily intended for those who have recently been discharged from a hospital or institutional care setting, or individuals in the process of applying for the Medi-Cal benefit, In Home Supportive Services (IHSS).
Services provided through this program include:
- Chore Support: Periodic maintenance for a household, such as heavy cleaning, washing windows, sidewalk maintenance and yard work;
- Homemaker Services: Light routine maintenance of a household, including service such support as dusting, vacuuming, laundry, or meal preparation; and
- Personal Care Services: Assistance with routine care of a personal nature, such as bathing, dressing, personal care, feeding and general hygiene.
