KENNEL HAND/JANITORIAL

Job Description

The key to any successful relationship — animal or human— is love and trust. At our Training Facility, we bring over 35 years of training and behavior experience to help dog owners build successful, balanced, and healthy relationships with their canines. We are proud to be rated one of the Bay Area’s most effective and successful dog training facilities, and our greatest reward is seeing you experience a loving, lifelong bond with your four‑legged companion.

We’re looking for a dedicated, compassionate Kennel Hand/Janitorial to join our training‑based animal care facility.

What You Will Learn in This 6‑Month Training Program:

During this 6‑month Kennel Hand/Janitor training program, you will build a strong foundation in canine care, facility operations, and the Dan Perata Training (DPT) methodology. By the end of the program, you will gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to support a safe, clean, and structured environment for dogs, staff, and clients while preparing for future advancement.

You will learn:

• Maintain high standards of sanitation, facility cleanliness, and organization to ensure the health and safety of all dogs and staff.

• Understand and identify core canine behaviors, body language, and stress signals.

• Apply Dan Perata’s reward‑based, relationship‑driven training methodology—including The WALK, crate training, potty routines, and foundational commands.

• Perform essential kennel operations such as feeding, medication preparation, rotations, and group transitions.

• Safely handle dogs of varying temperaments, from puppies to reactive or aggressive dogs, under guided supervision.

• Communicate effectively with team members using shift notes, radios, and observation reporting.

• Execute advanced sanitation tasks, equipment care, and organizational systems that support smooth facility flow.

• Provide structured support during training sessions, outside walks, and behavior‑reinforcing activities.

• Lead portions of shifts, mentor newer staff, and demonstrate growing leadership and accountability.

• Run a full kennel shift with confidence, support trainers on complex tasks, and identify your future path in roles such as training assistant, daycare lead, or behavioral support specialist.
