MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- LEVEL 1
Job Description
Our organization provides socioeconomically disadvantaged communities with HUD-certified housing counseling, low-income rental housing, small business technical assistance and anti-discrimination programs that entail comprehensive prevention and intervention services. We are seeking dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technicians to assist our property management team with the daily repairs and maintenance of the residential apartment buildings we manage in San Francisco. The ideal candidate would have a valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation, working knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs, and their own basic tools.
Job Duties:
● Respond to tenant's work orders/maintenance on a daily basis and a timely manner
● Check and respond to emails, text messages, and company messaging system as often as needed
● Maintain intercom and front entry system in good operating condition
● Maintain exit signage and building lights in good condition
● Completing necessary work order forms once the job is completed
● Maintain and organize storage and maintenance shops in properties
● Order supplies and materials needed from accredited hardware store
● Assist on the replacement of batteries on smoke detectors and emergency lights as needed, but no less than once a year
● Annual debris clearing from gutters and roof
● Change timers as necessary
● Steam clean/power wash garage and front sidewalks at least once a year
● Assist with the snake clean-outs in basement drain lines at least twice a year
● Patching and Painting
● Appliance maintenance and installation
● Preventative building and apartment maintenance
● Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
● Must have company provided cell phone available all the time and ensure it has enough battery life that will last throughout the day to answer phone calls and messages
● Assist in producing annual monitoring reports
Minimum Qualifications:
● Good command of written and spoken English, and Cantonese is a plus
● General knowledge of HVAC
● Working knowledge of carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing
● At least one year of experience in all three skills (three years of experience desired)
● Must have a valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation
● Must have own basic tools (hammer, screwdriver, pliers, wrench)
● Education: High school diploma
● Experience and Skills: Carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills
● Language: Conversational in English is a must. Conversational in Cantonese, Spanish, or Vietnamese is a plus.
● Physical Requirements: Multi-limb and eye-hand coordination; able to bend, stoop and lift boxes up to 15 lbs; fast pace/multi-tasking with organization and efficiency; must be able to
walk up and down two flights of stairs 3-5+ times a day
