We are a 33‐year‐old non‐profit agency working to foster stability in low‐ and moderate‐income, minority communities in San Francisco, through the development of affordable housing, the provision of holistic supportive social services, the facilitation of financial empowerment as well as homeownership, and the and economic revitalization of our community.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:                                                                    

This is a permanent position that includes a 6-month training period. We are seeking an experienced retail and operations professional to help launch and run our marketplace in the Fillmore/Western Addition. The marketplace is a creative and entrepreneurial store providing affordable retail and self-space to over 20 Black-owned businesses. Black entrepreneurs can engage with the marketplace through pop-ups, event activations, selling products on the marketplace’s e-commerce website, or by subleasing space on a permanent basis. We provide affordable retail space to hundreds of Black-owned businesses over the next decade.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Report to the Economic Development (ED) Program Manager, the Sales and Marketing Associate will be responsible for helping to execute the day-to-day operations at the marketplace, including engaging with customers, processing sales transactions, supporting marketing initiatives, and event curation. We are looking for Sales and Marketing Associates to provide excellent customer service to patrons and support us with the following:

 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

JOB DUTIES:

·        Greeting customers when they walk through the door

·        Building rapport through conversation and honest recommendations

·        Ringing up sales and arranging for delivery or pick-up of the customer’s order

·        Assisting in maintaining the back stock room and setting up merchandise displays on the sales floor

·        Collaborating with fellow team members to keep the sales floor area clean and organized at all times

·        Learning about the various businesses and products featured in store to effectively sell them

·        Keeping the store clean and organized

·        Supporting with the marketing and production of events

·        Support with social media and marketing initiatives to increase sales in-store

·        Other duties, as assigned 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·        1-2 years of retail customer service

·        High school diploma

·        Able to lift minimum 30-50lbs

·        Lived experience or prior professional experience working within communities of color is highly valued

·        Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission and supporting low and moderate-income communities of color.

·        Experience with social media marketing (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).

·        Ability to create engaging content, including product photography and captions

·        Ability to stand for extended periods during store floor duties

·        Use of hands for handling merchandise and performing tasks (finger, handle, feel)

·        Ability to reach with hands and arms when organizing stock or displays

·        Effective verbal communication and hearing for customer interaction

·        Vision requirements including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus

WORK SCHEDULE:

·        Availability for Wed-Sun.

·        Depending on the project’s needs, you may be required to work after regular hours, including evenings and weekends.
