Job Description
A leading San Francisco business‑to‑business digital printing and marketing services provider is seeking a self‑motivated, energetic, outgoing, and friendly Assembly Staff.
The employer is locally owned and operated, supported by the resources of a global network. The company produces a wide range of marketing solutions, including traditional print products (direct mail, brochures, posters), signage, and brand‑strategy materials.The Hand Finishing / Assembly Staff member is responsible for completing manual finishing, assembly, packaging, and quality-control tasks for commercial print projects.
The employee will work with printed materials and finished products such as brochures, booklets, cards, invitations, direct-mail pieces, signage, presentation materials, kits, and other custom print projects.
This position offers a 6‑month paid, on‑the‑job training program designed to provide a full understanding of the company’s production operations. Employer is looking for a detail-oriented Assembly Staff with strong pre-press experience to join our production team.
After 6 months of on-the-job training, candidate should be able to perform the tasks below:
Duties:
- Hand assemble, collate, sort, fold, insert, package, and prepare printed materials.
- Perform manual finishing operations including gluing, taping, mounting, labeling, scoring, folding, and assembling.
- Assemble marketing kits, presentation folders, mailers, event materials, and other customized projects.
- Inspect printed and finished pieces for defects, damage, incorrect quantities, or assembly errors.
- Follow job tickets, production instructions, samples, and work orders accurately.
- Count and verify quantities throughout the production process.
- Maintain consistent quality and appearance across completed jobs.
- Prepare completed work for cutting, binding, mailing, delivery, or shipment.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Properly handle and protect finished printed materials to prevent damage.
- Assist machine operators and bindery personnel when needed.
- Meet established production schedules and communicate immediately when a job is behind schedule or has a quality issue.
- Follow company procedures for waste, rework, quality control, and job documentation.
- Perform other production duties as assigned.
- Follow the approved sample or job ticket exactly.
- Maintain accurate counts.
- Identify and separate defective pieces.
- Check alignment, folding, gluing, labeling, and assembly quality.
- Prevent damaged or incorrectly assembled pieces from reaching the customer.
- Notify the Production Lead of any discrepancy before continuing a questionable job.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a commercial print shop, bindery, fulfillment, packaging, warehouse, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal production instructions.
- Basic ability to count and perform simple measurements.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
- Ability to work under time-sensitive production deadlines.
- The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, fast, and careful. They understand that in commercial printing, a small assembly error can result in hundreds or thousands of pieces being rejected. The employee should take pride in producing clean, consistent, customer-ready work while keeping up with the production schedule.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
