We are a missiondriven community development organization committed to strengthening local neighborhoods through affordable housing, economic advancement, financial education, and supportive community services for over 30 years. Its center provides renters, homeowners, and prospective buyers with guidance and tools that promote longterm housing stability and overall financial wellbeing. The team includes a dedicated intake specialist who serves as the welcoming first point of contact, ensuring individuals are connected to highquality counseling, education, and resources that support their financial goals.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a permanent position that includes a 6-month training period. The Intake Specialist reports to the financial center’s program manager and serves as the primary intake coordinator for all of the financial center’s clients. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, coordinating client appointments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring clients complete all required documentation to access financial center services.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients seeking the center’s services.
  • Welcome and assist walk-in clients while providing a professional and supportive customer experience.
  • Complete client intake interviews and ensure all required intake documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Assemble and review application packages for housing counseling, homeownership, rental assistance, money management, financial coaching, and credit counseling services.
  • Schedule client appointments using the Calendly scheduling system.
  • Support clients with workshop registration.
  • Coordinate counselor schedules to ensure timely client appointments.
  • Respond to client phone calls, emails, and general inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate client files and documentation within the client management system.
  • Record detailed client notes and maintain timely case documentation.
  • Track, monitor, and report workshop registrations and attendance.
  • Conduct client assessments and identify service needs.
  • Provide community resources and referrals appropriate to client goals.
  • Assist with workshop preparation, check-in, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and records.
  • Support program reporting, data entry, and administrative functions.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year of experience providing customer service, client intake, administrative support, case management support, or housing/social service program support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are clear, culturally responsive, and respectful.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to the organization’s mission of serving low- and moderate-income communities.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with diverse communities and underserved populations is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish, Cantonese, or other languages commonly spoken in San Francisco) are highly desirable.

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Social Services, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week, In-office
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support organizational events or business needs.
