ROBOT OPERATOR FT
Job Description
Company Bio:
We are a San Francisco robotics company building general-purpose robots for hospitality. Our robots take on physical, repetitive work that keeps hotels running, starting with tasks like linen handling, cleaning support, and on-property delivery. We design, build, and test the machines in our SoMa shop, then put them into real hotel environments. The company is venture-backed (over $6M raised) and still small, so this person will work side by side with the people who build the robots, not in a separate warehouse.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about robotics, reliable, and eager to learn for this permanent Robot Operator role, which includes a 6‑month training program.
Training & Professional Development
While this is an employment opportunity, the selected candidate will receive on-the-job training and mentorship in the following areas:
· Operator basics, safety, and tools
· Running robots and first-response
· Data collection
· Working with engineers on data
· Operator tools and data quality
· Independent operator
Major Duties:
· Run the daily robot operator loop in the shop: power on, dock, charge, reset, and prepare robots between training and test runs.
· Monitor robots during runs, stop them safely when something goes wrong, and log what happened (notes, photos, short videos).
· Keep charging stations, the shop floor, and tools organized, stocked, and safe.
· Assist engineers with setups, simple part swaps, and test fixtures under supervision.
· Support live hotel deployments: load/unload equipment, help with setup and teardown, and stay with the robot during guest-facing runs.
· Follow written checklists and safety procedures around moving machines, electrical equipment, and shop tools.
· Communicate clearly with the team at the start and end of each shift (what ran, what failed, what is blocked).
Minimum Qualifications:
· Comfortable with hands-on physical work: standing most of the day, walking the shop/hotel floor, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
· Reliable and on time; able to follow a written checklist without constant supervision.
· Interest in machines, tools, or hotel operations. No robotics degree required.
· Basic computer and phone skills (email, Google Docs, taking photos).
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in warehousing, manufacturing, facilities, hotel housekeeping or engineering, or as a technician.
· Valid driver’s license.
Job Schedule:
· Three shifts available: 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8pm
Benefits:
· Paid sick leave.
