City of San Francisco Working Families Credit

Here you'll find information on how to claim tax credits, benefits, and other services for low-income working families in our City.

What is the Working Families Credit (WFC)?
The San Francisco Working Families Credit (WFC) gives up to $250 to low-income working families who have also qualified for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).   

The WFC application deadline for the 2017 tax season was April 18, 2018. If you submitted your application by the deadline and are determined eligible, you should receive your WFC payment by September 2018.

For assistance finding the money and benefits you've earned, contact 211 United Way Bay Area by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-273-6222. Representatives are available 24 hours a day and provide service in over 150 languages.

As we near the 2018 tax season, check back for information on HSA's free tax preparation sites and other free tax sites in the city.

HSA's Tax Partner, MEDA, operates year-round at 2301 Mission Street. Call 2-1-1 (or 1-800-273-6222) to confirm their hours of operation.

You can learn about several other online options for free tax returns through the IRS Free File program.
