We are a San Francisco–based artisan leather atelier and training studio dedicated to preserving and teaching traditional European leathercraft techniques. Our studio operates as both a school and a working production atelier, creating a rare environment where learning and real-world craftsmanship happen side by side.
We are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in learning a skilled hand trade through paid, on-the-job training with long-term career potential.

This role is a structured, paid artisan training and apprenticeship opportunity. Apprentices will participate in a six-month program that combines formal artisan training (months 1-3), studio operations support, and hands-on production work (months 4-6).
The program is designed for individuals with little or no prior experience who are eager to learn, work with their hands, and develop professional-level skills over time.
This is an on-site training employment opportunity.
Job Duties
Phase 1. Training & Studio Support (Months 1–3)
Apprentices spend the first three months focused on foundational training and studio operations.
Work includes:
● Participating in a structured artisan training curriculum using traditional tools and methods
● Practicing fundamental hand skills through repeated exercises and guided projects
● Learning material handling, tool care, and workspace setup
● Supporting day-to-day studio operations, including light administrative and organizational tasks
● Assisting team with preparation and logistics
Much of this phase involves repetition, correction, and redoing work until standards are met.
Phase 2. Apprenticeship & Production Support (Months 4–6)
After completing training, apprentices transition into production support.
Work may include:
● Assisting Master Artisans directly with leather goods production
● Performing specific production steps under supervision
● Preparing materials and components
● Supporting quality control and finishing processes
● Continuing skill development through real production work
There is potential for continued employment after the program based on performance and business needs.
